With over 38,000 square feet of exhibition space, IMH is dedicated to the history of the horse and its unique relationship with humans through time. Permanent museum exhibitions highlight the history of the horse from ancient times to the many popular sporting events of modern times. Temporary international exhibitions such as "All the Queen's Horses: The Role of the Horse in British History" and “Imperial China: The Art of the Horse in Chinese History”, provide a distinctive glimpse into specific geographic regions. Contemporary art exhibitions focus on the talents of equine artists around the globe and give talented local equine artists much needed exposure to a worldwide audience.

Known for its red clay, one-mile track, The Red Mile is the second oldest harness track in the world. For over 130 years, harness racing’s elite have converged on The Red Mile to stage some of the greatest equine battles in history. In 2004, the Red Mile hosted its inaugural Quarter Horse meet, which marked the first time that breed has raced in the Bluegrass in more than a decade. In addition to each year's showcase horse racing, The Red Mile simulcasts 365 days a year and hosts numerous horse sales, wedding receptions, holiday parties, concerts, circuses, reunions, corporate meetings and many more events.
Ashland, the Henry Clay Estate

Henry and Lucretia Clay had a home at Ashland from around 1806 until 1852. At first it was their country home while they maintained their town house in Lexington, and then in 1809, they moved their growing family to Ashland where they resided until his death. The Clays delighted in the pleasure that the grounds near the house provided to their guests, and Henry Clay frequently invited travelers to visit his farm and grounds.

The Hunt-Morgan House is located in the Gratz Park Historic District at 201 N. Mill St. The house and Alexander T. Hunt Civil War Museum are open to the public, with a small admission fee, from the first of March through mid-December. Tours are offered Wednesday through Friday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm on the hour. The house is open for tours on Saturday from 10:00am-3:00pm with tours starting on the hour. The William S. Webb Museum of Anthropology is part of the University of Kentucky Department of Anthropology. Exhibits are located in Lafferty Hall on the main campus and are open to the public Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (summer hours: 7:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m.). No admission fee is charged. Exhibits are handicap accessible.
Guided tours for school and community groups are available. To schedule a tour call (859) 257-8208 at least one week in advance of the tour date.

We are a Thoroughbred Training facility (owned by the Keeneland Association) right where you want to be: in the heart of the Bluegrass and only one and one-half hours, or less, from four tracks and our trainers ship regularly to more than a dozen tracks. We offer two excellent training tracks, experienced gate crew, official clocker, security staff, 1,000+ stalls, paddocks and grass gallops. Our works are published via Equibase. We also offer Guided Tours of this working Thoroughbred training facility for groups or individuals. Come behind the scenes for a rare glimpse of "A Day in the Life of a Thoroughbred in Training!" We can host your Special Event of any size - from a 5-person brain-storming session away from the office, to a sit-down dinner for a wedding reception for 200, to a large presentation or concert for 900 in our luxurious Pavilion.

The Aviation Museum of Kentucky is located at Blue Grass Airport, Lexington. The facility has 12,000 square feet of display area, a fully equipped shop for aviation restoration projects, an office, a library/archive and a gift shop. The Museum is a dynamic entity which includes not only older restored aircraft and memorabilia, but also air-worthy, flyable aircraft for the public to enjoy. This year we celebrate our 10th year of operation.

Benjamin Henry Latrobe was born in England in 1764 and studied under Europe's most prestigious architects. Emigrating to America in 1795-96, Latrobe established himself as the foremost architect, engineer and designer of the new republic. Until his death in 1820, he designed and collaborated on some of the country's most important structures, including the United States Capitol, and helped create a distinctly American style of architecture. Known to many as the father of American architecture, Latrobe set a standard of style and professionalism that resonates even today.

This two-story brick, late Georgian house with its stone water table and belt course was built in 1803-1806 as an inn by William Palmateer. Located in the heart of downtown Lexington, the Mary Todd Lincoln House is within easy walking distance of downtown hotels, the Civic Center and Rupp Arena.
Boone Station State Historic Site

Boone Station (or Boone's Station) was a settlement in Kentucky and the home of Daniel Boone from 1779 to 1782. It was located on Boone's Creek in Fayette County, Kentucky, near present Athens, Kentucky. Boone moved here during the American Revolutionary War after having previously lived in Boonesborough, Kentucky. The new settlement, initially called "Boone's new station", was located on land settled in 1776 by Daniel's son Israel. At its height, the settlement consisted of about 15 to 20 families. Like other "stations" in frontier Kentucky, Boone's Station probably consisted of a number of cabins which shared a common outside wall in order to defend against American Indian raids.

The Headley-Whitney Museum seeks to connect people with their culture and the cultures of others through the collection, interpretation and exhibition of the decorative arts -- furniture, metalwork, textiles and ceramics. The permanent collection includes jewelry and bibelots designed by Headley, his jewelry specifications, 18th and 19th century Chinese textiles, and Chinese ceramics which range in date from the Neolithic, Tang, Song, Ming and Qing periods.
 
Raven Run Nature Sanctuary

Raven Run is a unique, 734-acre nature sanctuary dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of the Kentucky River Palisades and early Kentucky history. Over 10 miles of hiking trails provide access to streams, meadows and woodlands characteristic of the area. Numerous 19th century remnants of early settlers, as well as over 600 species of plants, allow visitors to become acquainted with and appreciate the natural world. Raven Run also accommodates over 200 species of birds throughout the year.
 
Nostalgia Station Toy & Train Museum

The Nostalgia Station Toy and Train Museum in Versailles is housed in a restored 1911 railroad station. Exhibits include a reproduction of a 1926 standard gauge Lionel store display as well as children's toys and railroad memorabilia.
 
Waveland State Historic Site

Waveland State Historic Site in Lexington, Kentucky is the site of a Greek Revival home and plantation now maintained and operated as part of the Kentucky state park system. It was the home of the Joseph Bryan family, who followed Daniel Boone through the Cumberland Gap, and became an early settler and horseman of this region.

Loudoun House is considered one of the largest and finest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Kentucky. It reflects the Romantic Movement of the 1850s, which was a reflection of the social lifestyles and opulence of the day. The house follows a design of prominent New York architect Alexander Jackson Davis, who published his catalog of house designs, Rural Residences, in 1838.
